Howard qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2001 and obtained his Practicing Certificate in 2008. Qualifications also include an Honours Degree in Accountancy Studies from Exeter University.
A Partner at Edwards & Keeping and RI (Responsible Individual); so is able to sign off on audit reports for the larger corporate clients. Howard enjoys working with owner managed business as well as charities, clubs and other organisations. Howard also provides taxation advice in a number of areas for both personal and business clients.
The diverse range of clients and sometimes surprisingly complex situations that clients request advice upon continue to provide a stimulating and rewarding role. Clients range in size from the individual requiring completion of a simple personal tax return to medium sized companies. Many of our clients are based in the local area however we do have many clients situated throughout the UK and some in other countries.
Prior to joining Edwards & Keeping in 2003, Howard was located in Poole with the national firm BDO. Experience was built up in the business advice department and within audit and taxation, working with owner managed businesses and medium sized companies. Clients included the National Motor Museum and Beaulieu Estate, together with other manufacturing, engineering, retail and leisure businesses.
Initial but invaluable experience was gained after University with the local firm, Coyne Butterworth & Chalmers, based in Weymouth (and now part of Albert Goodman); this experience is still called upon today.
Howard is married with two children and a Jack Russell Terrier. Having grown up next to the sea in South Dorset Howard enjoys being on or in the water whenever opportunity arises, either sailing, windsurfing, paddle boarding or fishing. Howard also enjoys cycling and has competed in various mountain bike events in younger years but physical fitness levels are no-longer at the same level as they once used to be.
